EDUCATION

Robert A. Meyer (a.k.a. Rob Meyer) is an Architect with B.A. from Duke University and  a Master of Architecture degree from The University of Pennsylvania. A member of the AIA since 1989, Meyer is registered to practice architecture in two states (Florida and Vermont), and he holds the NCARB Certificate for national reciprocity.

EXPERTISE

Meyer saw the potential of computer technology and integrated into practice AutoCAD driven, computerized drafting and 3d modeling as early as 1984. Consistent with his commitment to technological innovation, his firm utilizes BIM (Building information modeling) technology, effectively streamlining and integrating design communication processes for superior project delivery from concept through construction. This capability has allowed Meyer Architecture and Planning to build an interstate practice collaborating with other talented architects and some of the region’s top design consultants from his southern Vermont location.

PRACTICE

Mr. Meyer has worked on a number of public projects in the greater Manchester area, including on many of the buildings that have shaped Manchester’s prominence as retail shopping and travel destination. Some of Meyer’s notable projects include the The Winhall Public Library, The American Museum of Fly Fishing, The Factory Point National Bank, The Northshire Bookstore, The Killington Medical Clinic, and the redevelopment of the Royal Square Shopping Center in Brattleboro. He is currently is president of Meyer Architecture & Planning.  In the mid-1990s, he spent two years working as a staff architect and project designer for Angerstein & Partner Architects in Muenster, Germany.

PUBLIC SERVICE

Beyond his professional responsibilities, Meyer serves the public. He was first appointed to the Vermont Board of Architects in 2000 by then-Governor Howard Dean. During his second term, he has served both as as board chair and secretary. At the regional level, he currently serves as secretary/treasurer for Region 1 (New England Conference), in 2009 he concluded a three year term on NCARB's national board of directors. Meyer represents the following U.S. jurisdictions: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. He has served as a trustee of the Regional Affordable Housing Corporation, which creates and provides affordable housing in southern Vermont, and as a director of Israel Congregation of Manchester Vermont. He is also a frequent visiting design critic at Norwich University School of Architecture, and currently serves on NCARB's Practice Education Committee which awards grants and prizes to accredited degree programs for successful integration of architectural practice in education.
